Seedcamp Workshop

Greg Marsh (Index Ventures), Paul Fisher (Advent Venture Partners), Sean Seton-Rogers (Balderton Capital), Olivier Schuepbach (Wellington Partners), and Paul Birch (Cominded) ran a vibrant workshop for potential Seedcamp applicants prior on the main SCT event on 17th July 07.

Seedcamp is an intensive week-long event held in September in London targeted at young entrepreneurs from across EMEA. Seedcamp's purpose is to catalyze the next generation of technology entrepreneurs by providing seed stage funding and a world-class network of mentors. There will be an open application available online and from there 20 companies will be selected to participate. At the end of the week they will make the funding decision to invest €50K each in 5 teams for a 10% stake.

We've indexed some video highlights of the workshop at the bottom of this page; presentations from the workshop are also available for download below.

Also do visit the discussion boards on the Seedcamp website, where the Seedcamp judging panel will be answering questions in the run-up to the application closing date this weekend. The deadline for applications is midnight 12 August. Even if you have already submitted you can continue to edit it up until then.

A list of other key dates has been posted to the Seedcamp website. Especially important ones to keep in mind are: Thursday 23 August, when we will be having telephone interviews with short-listed teams, and Monday 3 - Friday 7 September, the dates of Seedcamp week.

Seedcamp's Top Tips to consider before 12th August

Firstly, remember it's essential to ensure you have the best possible team in place when you apply. If you're in a team of one today, now is the time actively to identify and recruit co-founders who complement your skills and strengthen your business, and to add them to your application. We strongly prefer teams with more than one founder. There are a couple of good discussions starting (see It's all about the team and I'm looking for co-funders) on the Seedcamp Forum about this if you're looking for further inspiration.

Secondly, if you have a prototype or beta of your product or service which can be accessed over the web, please make sure your application gives details of how we can get to it. A working prototype we can play with is probably the best way to prove to us just what your team is capable of.

The Seedcamp teams are looking forward to reading your applications — good luck!
